Summary of Actions SEOEA Representative Assembly - April 14, 2015
Nearly 60 delegates and guests attended the SEOEAl District Representative Assembly (RA) on April.14. The Southeastern –OEA District is one of the oldest of the Ohio Education Association’s ten geographical districts. The District provides a variety of services to members including professional development opportunities.
At the RA……. Bill Van Pelt of Belpre E.A. was elected President,Belinda Dixon of Wellston T.A was elected Vice President. At-Large #1 position still remains open. Delegates also passed 6 Amendments to the Constitution and 1 Amendment to the Bylaws. Elections for County Reps to the Executive Committee for Hocking, Jackson, and Vinton Counties were scheduled for early May; however, with just one candidate for each, they will be elected by acclamation. They are: Sheri Nott - Hocking; Greg Potter - Jackson; and Teresa Doughty - Vinton. An opening for Pike County will be filled at the June meeting of the Executive Committee, as well as an appointment for the Student Rep.
Delegates also voted to endorse the following for State-wide office at the OEA Representative Assembly in May:
Delegates voted to support all 4 Constitutional Amendments, and to support the recommended changes to the OEA Resolutions Document.
Locals who received the SEOEA Pacesetter Awards were Alexander Local, Athens City, Belpre City, Logan-Hocking, Jackson City, Trimble Local, Vinton Local, and Wellston City. Each local received a certificate and a $100 stipend for participating in activities sponsored by SEOEA.
Delegates also contributed $1000.00 in FCPE donations. Kroger gift cards were won by John Pugh and Pam Smith. Drawings were held for the 12 centerpieces on the tables.
